How do organisations create a talent pipeline of future leaders in a sustainable way, in which leaders themselves are fully engaged and play an active role in the selection, and more importantly in the development, of their own successors?
Having coached across High Potential and Leadership Development programmes for over 10 years I have always pointed out to organisations that they should share the investment between the talent and their leaders. And most of the time I have been told that there just isn’t the budget. And yet year after year the results and feedback were the same, ‘we got the best development through the coaching elements of the programme but my line manager was absent from my development’. What???!!!
Thank goodness for London Energy!
MRA are very proud of our partnership with London Energy. Having worked closely together over recent years we have connected directly with the businesses aims, it’s ambitious culture change programme, and it’s desire to become a ‘great place to work’. And it’s this close partnership that has resulted in a co-designed approach to encouraging leaders to be fully engaged in creating successful successors, and in developing the next generation of talented senior leaders.
And what’s even more powerful is London Energy’s commitment to developing the current senior leaders to co-deliver the Future leaders Programme! They genuinely own their own talent. All of the Senior Leadership Team have undertaken the MRA ‘Coaching with Confidence’ Level 5 training programme to up-skill their coaching leadership capability to allow them to coach their talent through the year long programme of development. This unique approach has seen the investment shared between the current SLT and the Future Leaders – everyone is developed, everyone is invested in, and everyone wants the programme to succeed!
